India radio on every saturday on 90.5 fm or www.cfcr.ca from 11am

Dear all,

India-Canada Cultural Organization (ICCA; www.iccasaskatoon.ca) airs
"Sangeetmala" on every saturday from 11 am to 12.30 pm. You can listen to this
program on FM 90.5 or online at www.cfcr.ca (and click the radio icon). The
program consists of Hindi segment from 11 am to noon, followed by regional
program segment until 12.30 pm.

You can also host the radio program, so that your dear ones around the world can
listen to you as a host and your choice of songs. It is required to take student
membership incase you want to host radio shows. The membership is very nominal,
i.e., $10/year.

You can also participate by listening to the Sangeetmala and can win exciting
prizes. Every saturday, there are two prizes for the THIRD CORRECT CALLERS of
two quiz songs. First prize is usually big (up to $ 100) and the second prize
is 8 "Garma-garam" samosas from Taste of India. You don't need membership to
participate. HOWEVER, I URGE THAT $10 IS NOT A BIG AMOUNT, TAKE MEMBERSHIP AND
SUPPORT THE ORGANIZATION WHOSE VOLUNTEERS ARE WORKING HARD TO IMPART BEST
IDENTITY TO INDIANS IN SASKATOON IN GENERAL AND ITS CULTURE IN PARTICULAR.

Please call Dr. Khyser Pasha at 343-6005 for hosting the radio show.

Thank you,
 Rajesh Jaiswal

Greeting, I am very disappointed that the Indian community in Saskatoon would support CFCR when it airs commercials with racist white voices imitating our East Indian accent. I refer to Taste of Bombay who sponsers Sangeetmala, which you are associated with. I am tired of being the butt of white people's jokes. We should have more community pride. It is disgusting that he is allowed to have such commercials. When I contacted CFCR, supposedly community radio, I was told that because he has the money he can say what he wants, and that this was all the owners idea and they tried to convince him not to do it. The commercial is not clever and there is no reason for a fake white person accent. I even called the commercial radio stations and they said they would not air such a racist commercial. You are not promoting our culture and heritage in Saskatoon. You are promoting stereotypes.
