The India Student Association, in cooperation with Canadian Blood Services, invites you to donate blood March 19-23 to mark March 21st, the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Share your health and vitality. The theme for this year's Blood Drive
is "One Blood - One Humanity".

India Students' Association is organizing Carrom and Chess tournament for our community people on:

Dear all,
 
India-Canada Cultural Organization (ICCA; www.iccasaskatoon.ca) airs
"Sangeetmala" on every saturday from 11 am to 12.30 pm. You can listen to this
program on FM 90.5 or online at www.cfcr.ca (and click the radio icon). The
program consists of Hindi segment from 11 am to noon, followed by regional
program segment until 12.30 pm.
 
You can also host the radio program, so that your dear ones around the world can
listen to you as a host and your choice of songs. It is required to take student
membership incase you want to host radio shows. The membership is very nominal,
i.e., $10/year.
 
You can also participate by listening to the Sangeetmala and can win exciting
prizes. Every saturday, there are two prizes for the THIRD CORRECT CALLERS of
two quiz songs. First prize is usually big (up to $ 100) and the second prize
is 8 "Garma-garam" samosas from Taste of India. You don't need membership to
participate. HOWEVER, I URGE THAT $10 IS NOT A BIG AMOUNT, TAKE MEMBERSHIP AND
SUPPORT THE ORGANIZATION WHOSE VOLUNTEERS ARE WORKING HARD TO IMPART BEST
IDENTITY TO INDIANS IN SASKATOON IN GENERAL AND ITS CULTURE IN PARTICULAR.

ISA Annual Indoor Sports Activities

Dear ISA members,
With your support and enthusiasm we have planned to have an annual in door sports event. Presently we plan to conduct Chess and Carom tournaments. The place and the venue are yet be finalised. They are most likely to be on week ends in #105, Souris Hall, Cumberland Ave S. The details to the effect will be announced soon.

Those who are interested in participating in the tournament should send an email giving their name and the event that they are interested in BEFORE THURSDAY.

Prizes:

First prize: $100 in cash

Second prize: $75 in cash

All the participants will have enough spicy snacks to fill the holes in the teeth, during the tournament. Special prizes for OPEN CLEAR and WITHIN 10 MOVE WIN are under active consideration.

Hurry up and send email to isa_usask@hotmail.com. To ensure commitment and healthy competition, we have thought of charging $2 fee to participants. Please pay at the venue.

ISA now has a WIKI !

Hi All,
ISA now has the WIKI pages. The IT department just created a wiki and enabled it for us.
 
 http://wiki.usask.ca/isa (It is empty now)

Please let me know if any of you  are interested in working on it to start a Knowledge repository. We can use this to start a digital ISA newsletter etc.
We can let ISA members air their opinon write articles or just post  their term research papers here.
 
BUT wiki has not been organised yet. We need GREAT guys who can learn and work on wikis.
Any takers? You need not be a computer wiz to do this.

ISA Logo Contest

Dear ISA Members,
ISA does not have a logo yet. Shouldn’t all of us get together and design one?
That is why we have this contest.

Please come up with a logo design before Nov 6th. ISA board 2006-2007 members will then vote to choose the ISA logo after a blind review.

The designer of the winning logo will be given a prize as may be appropriate on Parichay 2006 day. The same day accepted logo will be declared the official logo of ISA, then on.

Following are the guideline:
1 Keep it simple
2 Keep it meaningful
3 Hand designed logos are also accepted for competition.
4 Participation is important send the logos even if you think they are not good.
5 Decision of the board will be final. Board reserves the right to edit the logo if appropriate for organisational purposes.

Parichay-Request for cultural programs

Dear Friends,

Grand Annual Event of ISA 'Parichay' is being organised this November. Tentative date for the program as of now is 11th of November. Please see the announcement here;

Cultural programs constitute of lion�s share. Please come up with Skits, Short Plays, Dance, and anything that miht be specific to your part of India. It is an unique opportunity showcase Indian art forms and diversity in a humble way please contribute to this exercise.

Do you know somebody who has talents? S/he him/herself may not come forward and present it. Just come close and whisper in our ears, we will request them to entertain us with their unique talent, that they might have acquired with great practice.
